Mitchell Differential, Inc. had it’s humble beginnings as a small business venture over 30 years ago in 1991 in the town of North Grafton, MA. Originally named Mitchell Brake and Driveshaft, the company –founded by Mike Mitchell, consisted of 1 toolbox and $100.00  cash for operating capital. Within six months of operation, Mike’s son Dan joined him in his “endeavor of faith” to build a lasting family business.

Specializing in brake and driveshaft repair, the two quickly gained a reputation for doing quality work at a fair price – as well as being able to do custom machine work that most shops didn’t want to touch….which of course, led us to differentials. A gentleman by the name of Manny Santos – of Santos Jeep Service stopped by to visit us because he had heard that we could do “anything” when it came to machining and fabricating. He put us to the test with our first Dana 44 rear, and well, “the rest is history” as they say. We’ve been building and re-building differentials and axles ever since.

We’ve since moved to our current location in Shrewsbury, MA and split the former company in two – Mitchell Differential, Inc and Mitchell Drivetrain Service, Inc. Although we handle much more work than before and at a much larger scale, we still hold to the same standards as before – quality work at a fair price.
